Fear - The Death of Transparency
A growing trend is noted over at SE Journal. There is a push by many in the SEO professionals community to end all transparency when it comes to performing Search Engine Optimization for clients. One argument is that transparency encourages copy-cats and mediocrity in the field.

 

Our thoughts: There is a level of mediocrity that can be found with SEO today, but transperancy should not be viewed as the culprit. Any one can goto eBay and purchase a "do it yourself" SEO ebook.

It's true that SEO Ebooks are often wildly out of date, as it is also true that a portion of these people will continue on to claim they are experts.

The SEO community has always been secretive, but some fail to grasp common business practices. Having transperancy with SEO isin't going to cause clients to run off and manage their SEO campaigns themselves. Out sourcing SEO on a monthly basis is far cheaper then hiring an IT person with SEO knowledge.
